OD&D - Mapper Session 1
Adventuring Parties can't get fame and fortune without knowledge of a map to Treasure. Enter Alin the Mapper…
Inspired by Daniel of Bandits Keep, I decided to have a Mapper session so one of the parties I created could Delve a Dungeon.
To keep track of when the Mapper would return to civilisation, I made a 30 Day Calendar, rolled a d30 for what day they set out.
Then I just went for it using a combination of the Outdoor Survival distances and OD&D Lost/Encounter rolls…
On Kref, the 6th Day of Ignisar, The Mapper Alin set off to find rumours of three potential Treasure sites.
She decided to explore the site in the forest.
a roll of a 1 for the direction, meaning she had to go in a straight line for that day. Then a 3 for getting Lost and a roll of 2 for Encounters meant Alin managed to traverse into the forest safely. But, she couldn't find any Rations, rolling a 5 for a 1-in-6 chance of getting them.
The next Day, she got herself lost and ended up back to the Opens. The rations were running low, but no hostiles.
A roll of a 3 for directions meant the Mapper could move and turn once for that day. She was down to a Movement of 5, but unfortunately she rolled a 1 for getting lost. Luckily, the random direction was North, back to the Opens. Again, No Encounters and No Rations.
As the day of Mylk approached, the 8th Day of Ignisar, Alin managed to find the location of Treasure in Hex 1,8.
3000 silver, 30000 gold, a Mace +2 and a Ring of Protection.
She'll earn 20,000 gold and Level up to 12 Movement spaces a day.
another roll for turning once for the direction. No Lost or Encounter Rolls and a VERY lucky Treasure roll! With her returning on the 8th on the Calander, the party will be able to venture out within the week (a d6 roll to determine). But, as they're Level 1, they'll have to pay some of the Treasure towards a patron.
That was a quick session, but a fun one!
Next time, I'll decide which party will go out!
